Will I Ever Stop Underarm Sweat?
For some people, underarm sweating is a lifelong problem, and one that creates misery every single day. They long to walk around in a tank-top or wear a tight-fitting blouse. They would love to walk around in confidence without feeling for dampness or sneaking a peak under their arm. They would love to make it through an entire day without having to change shirts or wipe dampness from their underarms.
Underarm sweating really is a major problem for a great many people. It changes their lives completely..
If you are someone who has worried about underarm sweating, you may be asking yourself if you will ever be able to stop underarm sweat. The answer is, probably yes.
Some people are simply hard-wired to sweat more than other people. Some of it is genetic, some of it is based on your ethnicity, your size, or your gender. You may want to stop underarm sweat because you think of it as a personal fault, but it isn’t – you know that you can’t help it.
If you think you really are sweating more than most people and it has become a problem for you, it might be time to seek some medical help. The first step is usually seeing a general medical doctor who may, in turn, refer you to either a dermatologist or a doctor who specializes in the nervous system. Either way, they will probably first prescribe a topical antiperspirant that is designed to stop underarm sweat. If that does not work for you, they may suggest trying Botox injections.
Botox is usually used only in severe cases where the sweating is causing a serious problem with the patient’s lifestyle and/or psychological well-being. Botox will work to reduce sweating, but it is an expensive and awfully painful procedure, and it may not last for more than six months to a year.
